The "Mi" and "Da" Behind the Design

If you see two women power-walking on adjacent treadmills in a Bay Area gym, talking at 100mph about 3D renderings and tile offsets, you’ve probably spotted us.
We are Michal and Dana—the "Mi" and "Da" behind the studio. While our professional lives are spent obsessing over "Modern-Warm" aesthetics and perfect floor plans, our origin story is a little less... "curated."

Same School, Different Sidelines
While we both hold design degrees from the same college (we missed each other by just one year!), we didn’t actually meet in a studio or a lecture hall. We met on a grass field during our sons' soccer practice. The boys eventually traded their cleats for basketball shoes, but our partnership stuck. We realized we had a lot more in common than just our kids' sports schedules: we both have three kids (six between us!), and a deep-seated need to create beautiful, functional homes for busy families like our own.

The "Morning Commute" (and The Treadmill)
Our workday starts at the daycare drop-off. We give a quick "hi" from our car windows, and then one of us picks up the other for the gym. This is where the magic happens—and where our differences shine: Dana is the runner; Michal... let’s just say Michal tolerates the gym for the sake of the conversation.
During that hour, we solve more design problems than most people do in a full workday. We talk through client budgets, structural feedback from our contractor, and whether a brushed nickel or matte black finish is the right move for a specific kitchen. After separate showers (obviously!), we meet at whichever of our houses has the best lunch options ready.
The Tidy vs. The "Work in Progress"
Every partnership needs balance, and we’ve found ours in the morning rhythm:
Michal is the "Plans and Details" guru. She is incredibly tidy—she’s the one who has her kitchen sparkling and her tasks checked off by the crack of dawn.
Dana is the "People and Styling" expert. She’s the one picking the perfect materials, usually while admitting that she will get her kitchen clean and the food prepped... at some point later today.
Two Minds, One Mission
When we’re on the clock, we are a true team. For most projects, we are side-by-side: we measure the house together, brainstorm the creative vision together, and meet with our clients as a duo. From picking materials at showrooms to supervising the dusty reality of a construction site, we are both fully "in it."
Michal takes the lead on the technical drawings and navigating the world of permits. However, when our schedule gets busy, we lean into our greatest strength: the split. One of us will dive deep into the technical drawings while the other heads out to source the perfect materials. It’s how we keep projects moving without ever sacrificing quality.

The 4:00 PM Hard Stop
Our "CEO" status officially expires every day at 4:00 PM. That’s when the carpool schedule takes over and we head back to pick up the younger boys.
Pro-tip for our clients: If you message us after 4:00 PM, Michal is your girl—she’s the responsive one during the "after-school shift." Dana usually enters the "black hole" of snacks and homework until the dust finally settles.
Why This Works For You
We live just four minutes away from each other, which means we are constantly collaborating. We don’t just design houses; we understand the chaos of a lived-in home. We know you need a space that looks like a magazine cover but functions like a command center.
When you hire MiDa, you aren't just getting two designers—you’re getting two partners who know exactly how to blend high-end style with real-world life.
